Household Care Tips for Scorpio Season - Purge the Clutter

I've recently been thinking a lot about my devotion to Hestia and my Household Care Routines. I'm one of those neurodivergent folks who can struggle with routines and household chores - a lot of this because I can't decide where to start or how to prioritize the tasks. I often struggle with forgetfulness and distraction, so I find it really helpful to have a list of prompts or reminders to help me.
As an Astrologer and a Witch, I also like to find ways to blend the mundane with the magickal; to align the energies of the season and the moon with my intentions and actions. It helps me feel more motivated and more connected to my spiritual path when I can find ways to align my daily household chores with the cycles of the seasons, the moon, and planetary energies. I thought it might be fun to create a little seasonal guide for myself and for anyone else who wants to follow along!

♏ Scorpio Season Focus – Declutter & Deep Clean Theme: Release the hidden, transform the stagnant.
Scorpio season invites us to go beneath the surface - both within ourselves and within our homes. Just as Scorpio energy helps us face what’s buried and transform it, this is the ideal time to confront the clutter, dust, and forgotten corners we tend to avoid. Every drawer you open, every cobweb you clear, every old item you release is a form of energetic renewal. Think of this process as an act of emotional alchemy: you are reclaiming your space and your power.
We are all familiar with "Spring Cleaning" in the Spring season. Let's think of this as our "Fall Cleaning" and use Scorpio Season to let go of clutter and reset our home so that we don't bring any unwanted or unnecessary mess with us into the Dark Half of the year!
Monthly Focus: Identify the "hidden" or neglected areas where clutter can accumulate (under the bed, closets, drawers, inside the fridge etc) and commit to clean and organize one to four of these areas. Release what’s lurking in the shadows. This is also a good time for cleaning of the areas that are commonly forgotten, like behind and under the furniture, the baseboards, corners and behind doors. Think of Scorpio Season as a time to do a deep purge, to release what’s hidden or out of sight. Habit of the Month: Create a habit out of this Monthly Focus - add to your Daily Routine a 5 to 10 minute Purge or Declutter of a hidden or unseen area in the home. This should be a habit that can be done in any room and take just a few minutes a day - we aren't talking about a full deep declutter of a closet or under the bed - this is about breaking down that work into smaller chunks and doing a little bit every day. Let's call it the Mini Purge and commit to adding this to your list of Daily Chores.
Remember, it is about making a little bit of progress every day - if you choose a drawer it doesn't mean you have to perfectly clean out the drawer 100%. It just means you will spend 5 minutes sorting the drawer and get rid of anything you don't need, or remove things that don't belong there and put them where they belong. Whatever you can do in 5 minutes. You probably don't want to empty out the entire drawer for this 5 minutes task - you want to just take a few minutes to do a little something to help reduce the clutter in the drawer. On a day when you have the time you can do a deeper cleaning, but this is about creating a small daily habit in which you tend to the hidden areas like a drawer. The same goes for closets, under the bed, cabinets, etc - you are just doing a little 5 to 10 minute focus session to reduce clutter in any hidden or unseen area every day.
You can adjust this to 3 minutes a day or 15 minutes a day - whatever your schedule and energy level allows for. Just try not to get too caught up in perfectionism, and avoid overwhelming yourself with too much. Start small and remember that getting a little bit done is better than nothing at all.
Week by Week
To help us narrow this down and take away the guess-work of where to focus our deep cleaning for Scorpio Season, I like to also implement a week-by-week guide inspired by the Moon's phases in which we focus on a different room or zone for each of the four parts of the lunar cycle.
Waxing Crescent: Kitchen & Pantry Waxing Gibbous: Living Room & Den Waning Gibbous: Bedrooms Waning Crescent: Bathroom & Laundry
🌑 Week 1: Waxing Crescent – Initiate & Energize (Kitchen) October 21 - 28
Theme: Begin your purge. Set the intention for transformation.
Focus: Scorpio energy starts beneath the surface. This week, channel that intensity into reclaiming your kitchen from hidden buildup. The Waxing Crescent moon phase brings motivation and momentum.
Cleaning Goals:
- Empty and wipe pantry shelves, checking for expired or forgotten items.
- Deep clean the fridge and freezer; release what no longer nourishes you.
- Clear under-sink storage and inside drawers or cabinets.
- Sweep and mop under appliances; clean behind the stove and refrigerator.
5-Minute Mini Purge Ideas:
- Toss expired condiments or sauces.
- Declutter one fridge shelf or one drawer.
- Empty the utensil drawer and remove duplicates or put extras in storage.
- Declutter and organize one shelf of the pantry / food storage area.
- Clean out under the sink.
Scorpio Wisdom: The kitchen is the womb of the home - where transformation (cooking, alchemy, nourishment) occurs. Cleaning it deeply honors your power to transmute what’s stagnant into something vital and sustaining. As you purge expired food, ask yourself: What emotional “old nourishment” do I need to let go of?
🌓 Week 2: Waxing Gibbous – Refine & Prepare (Living Room) October 29 - Nov 4
Theme: Reveal what’s hidden in plain sight.
Focus: As the moon grows fuller, its light expands, illuminating spaces you’ve overlooked. The living room reflects your outer world and how your energy interacts with others.
Cleaning Goals:
- Move furniture and vacuum/dust behind and beneath it.
- Clean corners, vents, light fixtures, and baseboards.
- Organize shelves, cabinets, or drawers; clear clutter from surfaces.
- Clean windows to let in more light.
5-Minute Mini Purge Ideas:
- Sort one small basket or drawer or an area where junk accumulates.
- Organize and dust one shelf or corner.
- Sanitize remotes, light switches, or door handles.
- Couch Diving - get the crumbs or trash that has fallen in the couch cushions and clean under or behind the couch.
- Straighten cushions and shake out or wash blankets and rugs to reset energy.
Scorpio Wisdom: This phase refines your energy flow - both in your home and within. Notice what feels stagnant or “off.” Scorpio energy is about deep perception; trust your intuition about what needs to go. Every object and dust pile carries energy; release what doesn’t support clarity or comfort.
🌕 Week 3: Waning Gibbous – Release & Organize (Bedroom) Nov. 5 - 11
Theme: Shed the old; create sacred space for renewal.
Focus: After the intensity of the Full Moon, the waning gibbous invites release. The bedroom represents intimacy, privacy, and the unconscious; Scorpio’s domain.
Cleaning Goals:
- Declutter under the bed, closets, drawers, and nightstands.
- Wash bedding, curtains, and pillows to renew energy.
- Sort through clothing; donate what no longer aligns with your current self.
- Refresh your altar, dream journal area, or nightstand crystals.
5-Minute Mini Purge Ideas:
- Declutter one dresser drawer or jewelry box.
- Organize your clothes and pick three clothing items to donate or give away.
- Clear clutter from a box under the bed or in the closet.
- Clean and organize your bedside table.
- Tidy a single surface that greets you each morning.
Scorpio Wisdom: This is emotional decluttering as much as physical. As you clean, imagine releasing old relationships, self-images, or energetic attachments that no longer serve you. Scorpio teaches that every ending clears space for rebirth. Sleep becomes a sacred act of restoration when your space is clear.
🌘 Week 4: Waning Crescent – Cleanse & Renew (Bathroom & Laundry) Nov. 12 - 19
Theme: Purify and complete the cycle.
Focus: The waning crescent is the final moon phase - the end and the beginning. This week is for full cleansing and spiritual renewal. The bathroom and laundry are watery spaces of release, perfect for Scorpio’s final transformation.
Cleaning Goals:
- Deep clean tubs, tiles, grout, drains, and faucets.
- Clear cabinets and drawers; toss old toiletries or expired products.
- Wash towels, rugs, and shower curtains.
- Clean the washing machine, dryer lint trap, and any hidden corners.
5-Minute Mini Purge Ideas:
- Toss empty shampoo bottles or expired medicine.
- Organize and sanitize the sink area.
- Declutter a bathroom drawer or cabinet.
- Clean and organize under the bathroom sink.
- Clear clutter or junk out of the Laundry Room or Utility Room.
Scorpio Wisdom: Water is Scorpio’s healing element. As you cleanse these spaces, visualize emotional purification - the washing away of the old cycle’s residue. Light a candle or add essential oils to your cleaning water to invoke renewal. When finished, take a mindful bath or shower to complete the ritual; you and your home are both reborn.
