I decided to try out something new and fun for the blog! A Monthly Reading for the collective from a Tarot or Oracle deck that I own - and a review of the deck! I own several decks and I can offer a free 3 card reading for the collective with one of my decks and then give a bit of a review and tell you about the deck.
For the month of July I am jumping right in with my newest Oracle Deck: the Trash Animals Oracle!
A Reading For The Collective: If you have found yourself here reading this blog, this message is for you! I asked the Trash Animals Oracle "What Advice do you have for us for the month of July?" I am drawing three cards with a Body-Mind-Spirit format. The first card is advice for our bodies and physical lives. The second card is advice for our minds, and the third card is advice for our spirit. Let's see what the cards have to say!

Card 1 - Body: RAT - Entanglements The advice for our physical embodied lives this month comes from Rat - specifically a Rat King. Do you ever feel so caught up in the rat race with work, socializing, family, and all your obligations that you can't seem to get a moment to yourself? With certain situations, the harder you try to get away, the more entangled you become, and your frustrations or fears are going to spread to those around you, and before you know it everyone is unhappy.
This card is telling us to get our priorities straight, especially within our daily routines and physical realities. If work or school are taking up large portions of your time, you will need to make sure you are getting time for rest and time for fun - and try not to take on any extra projects or obligations until life is less overwhelming! See if there is a way to reduce your work load this month so you can have a little more time for yourself instead of giving it all to others. Remember to take care of your body with rest, exercise, and nutrition. If you are healthy and feeling good physically you will have an easier time working through the entanglements and problem-solving to help everyone get what they need.
"A group of rats' tails can become entangled and caught in tree sap, gum, or other sticky substances, making them unable to escape each other. This phenomenon is known as a rat king. There are times when it feels like our responsibilities, relationships, and the daily grind are all tangled up. It's hard to enforce a healthy work-life balance and sometimes even harder to say no to those we love so we can have time to ourselves. How can you untangle yourself from certain commitments so you can rest?" -- from the Trash Animals Oracle Guidebook, by Andrew Schneider.
Card 2: Mind PLASTIC SIX-PACK HOLDER: Pause, Surrender
In the image of this card we see a Squirrel trying to take a can of soda, but it is still attached to the other cans because of the plastic six-pack holder. He can try and try, but the plastic is strong and he won't be able to free this can from the others without help. We have all heard about how dangerous these plastic six pack holders are to wildlife, and we also know that sugary soda is not a great treat for wild animals. This squirrel will be better off abandoning this goal and foraging for other nourishment. This card falls in the "Mind" position, bringing us advice for our mental state. Perhaps there is a problem you have been trying to solve or a goal you have been trying to reach with no avail. Maybe if you haven't been able to work this one out yet despite all your over thinking, the answer is "Let it go, this is not good for you anyways." Pause, Release, Walk Away, Surrender. Spinning your mind out over this problem has gotten you nowhere and it is time to take a break. Let someone else try or get some rest and come back later. Maybe once you have some space away from the problem you will see that it was not worth the trouble and there are better things you can be focusing on.
" So it looks like you're stuck, and for better or worse, this might be the best place for you. Pause and take a gander at your situation. Are you missing out on an important moment? Are you drunk dialing an ex again? Surrendering to the will of nature can be as freeing as it is terrifying. Nobody should scamper through their lives, so be mindful of what is around you so you can better enjoy those old takeout containers and snatch up every bite!" "How can you make more time for yourself?" -- from the Trash Animals Oracle Guidebook, by Andrew Schneider.
Card 3: Spirit
FOX: Vision
The final card in our reading brings us advice for our Spirit - for our whole essence that includes our bodies and minds and expands into something more. We have a message from Fox, "Vision". Are you taking time to really see and notice all the wonder around you? Do you see your blessings and the opportunities right in front of you, or is your vision obscured by being too focused on a problem, or you have your head stuck in the sand, refusing to look around? Fox urges you to really notice and see the world around you, find the blessings and treasures that are right here! Additionally, "Vision" can relate to having a vision for your future - visualizing that which you desire so you can manifest it! Are you dreaming and hoping for the things you want? What is your vision for yourself beyond this month? And while you are visualizing your perfect future, take time to ask Spirit to send you other messages too - perhaps a prophetic dream, an omen, or a message from divination - you can get a Vision from many different places! Whether this is about receiving a vision, or creating and holding your own vision for the future, you will need to make sure your eyes are wide open to what is already around you! You need a clear view of your present situation to find the path to your future.
"Foxes have great vision: daytime, nighttime - it doesn't matter! Their good vision helps them spot a yummy morsel that didn't quite make it into the trash as well as helping them perfectly execute their plans and pounce at just the right time to catch their prey. How do you tap into your power of sight? Are you more focused on seeing what is right in front of you or having a vision of what you want to accomplish in the future?" -- from the Trash Animals Oracle Guidebook, by Andrew Schneider.
Overall we are getting this advice for July - Rest and Slow Down, let go of something that is holding you back and re-focus your vision on something truly worth your time and energy!

My REVIEW OF TRASH ANIMALS ORACLE
I love this deck! The cards are colorful with cute and clear illustrations. The card stock is great quality and the cards are not too thick or thin, and easy to shuffle. There are 50 cards in a beautiful sturdy box with an 87 page guide book.
This is an animal oracle card deck which focuses on animals that you will find in Urban environments - including Rat, Crow, Raccoon, Pigeon, Squirrel and Possum. Each animal has two cards, identifying two seperate lessons for each animal. (For example Rat has a card for "Entanglement" and also a card for "Curiosity") There are fifteen animals with two messages each, so there are 30 Animal cards.
There are 20 additional cards that portray environments or situations that these Urban animals might encounter. These are cards like "The Plastic Six-Pack Holder". "The Alluring Smell". "The Broom", and "The Tipped Over Trash Can". These cards add some complexity to our Animal cards, giving advice through situations that the animals might encounter or objects that the animals might interact with.

The Guidebook gives a clear and fun interpretation for each card, and it is pretty easy to use your intuition to see how each card might apply to your life. These are all animals that we have most likely seen or encountered at some point in our lives, and as these animals and situations are familiar to us it is pretty easy to divine a message from the cards intuitively.
This deck comes at a great price - only $20 to order from the publisher at www.runningpress.com
